10 Things I've Been Lovin' This Month

Hey ya'll! This is one of my favorite posts that I have decided to do! On the last day of every month, I am going to share 10 products, pieces of clothing, trends, etc. that I have been loving during that month. These aren't necessarily new things, or even my "holy grail" items, but specifically things that I loved and used over and over again that month. I am going to try to include a mix of beauty/ skin products, fashion pieces, and lifestyle items. I hope you enjoy reading about my monthly favorites!

I decided to group my favorites based on categories, so let's start with beauty products.

1. Living Proof Full Dry Volume Blast: This is the best volume spray to add texture to your hair! I especially like to use this when my hair is freshly shampooed, because I have a difficult time holding curl or adding volume when my hair is super clean. I also enjoy this product because it doesn't make your hair have that "crunchy" feel. I recommend this to anyone who wants to achieve instant volume and texture.
2. Bare Minerals Bare Pro Foundation: I have been using this foundation for a little over a month now and I have really been enjoying it! I don't like a super matte foundation, so the "natural matte" finish this gave off was perfect for me. It's really easy to blend and covers up any rough spots or discoloration. I also love it because they have a huge shade range, with about 30 different options, and matching your perfect color is super easy. If you are in the market for a new foundation, you should definitely try this one!
3. Tarte Shape Tape: If you watch any beauty Youtube videos, then I am sure you have heard of this concealer! Everyone is constantly talking about, so I finally decided to give it a try a few weeks ago, and it definitely lives up to the hype! It's extremely full coverage, which comes in handy when you are lacking sleep. It's also super creamy and easy to blend out. Since I've started using this, I can't find another concealer that compares!
4. Tory Burch Absolu Rollerball: I usually don't buy designer perfumes, but I decided to splurge and buy this Tory Burch Rollerball and it was totally worth the money! I noticed such a difference in the quality of the fragerance. I also can tell a difference in how long the scent lasted on my skin. I put it on in the begining of the day and I could still smell it when I went to bed that night. It's also the perfect size to just throw in my purse and carry with me all day. I definitely think this perfume is worth the money!
5. Morphe 350 Eyeshadow Pallet: This pallet just screams fall! The colors are great for both everyday looks and dramatic looks, and the shadows are extremely blendable. Also, the price is unbeatable! You get 35 shades, a mixture of mattes and shimmers, for only $23. I feel like this pallet is a great staple item to have in your makeup collection!

Okay, so now let's talk about my fashion/ lifestyle favorites from October.

6. Cardigans: Cardigans have been one of my favorite fashion pieces from this month. They were the perfect layering piece for this overwhelmingly warm October. I would wear one of these with almost every outfit because the mornings would be cool, but by later that afternoon it had warmed up and I could just take the cardigan off. I have cardigans in almost every fabric/ color combination, but here, here, and here are some of my favorites.
7. Frayed Denim: This was one of my favorite trends in October! I absolutely love the frayed detail on the bottom of my jeans. These jeans pair perfectly with everything- from tee shirts to dressy tops. I wore mine almost every day and ended up buying multiple of the same pair. I got mine from Unhinged Lifestyle Boutique, but you can find similar here
8. Cowhide: I have loved cowhide for the past few months, but I have especially been loving it in October. Adding a cowhide clutch or cross-body to your outfit adds the perfect amount of fall detail to your outfit. I also have been loving this cowhide bracelet. I get all of my cowhide items from either Unhinged Lifestyle Boutique or Scott's Antique Market because I have not found prices comparable to those.
9. Marc Fisher Cheetah Mules: I have been loving both cheetah print and mules lately, so these are the best of both worlds! They are extremely comfortable, so they are perfect for all day wear. They are pretty bold, so I would definitely recommend staying simple with the rest of your outfit and letting these be the star of the show. For example, I usually just wear them with black denim and a plain black cotton shirt. I definitely recommend investing in a good pair of mules for this fall & winter!
10. Bridge Water Candles: I am a sucker for a good candle, and these are some of the best! Not only is the packaging extremely beautiful, but the smell of these is amazing. I get mine from a cute store in downtown Senoia called Relish. Anytime a Bridgewater candle is purchased, the company feeds a child through an organization callled ricebowls.org. I love shopping, but I especially love shopping for a cause!

These monthly favorites are going to be pretty lengthy posts, but I want to give ya'll a full review and provide lots of details about why I loved these items so much! I hope ya'll enjoyed reading about my favorite products from October!

Blanket Scarves + Overalls

Hey ya'll! Hope your weekend was great! I just got back from Gatlinburg a few hours ago and I'm missing it already! We had the best trip and I can't wait to tell ya'll all about it later this week.

So it's finally cold here in Georgia and I'm not sure how I feel about it. On one hand, I am so excited because I can finally wear all of my sweaters, cardigans, etc. that I've been buying over the past few months. On the other hand, I really don't like being cold. Growing up in the south, everyone (including me) thinks it's freezing when it gets below 60 degrees, so we don't handle cold weather here very well. The good thing is, it never gets unbearably cold, so I'm able to wear things like cute fall dresses, skirts, and these overalls!

I love layering in the fall, and these overalls make the perfect layering piece! I got them from Lavish, a cute little boutique in Tuscaloosa (their site is currently down, but you can find similar here).  I paired them with a basic white long sleeve tee under that I got from Free People a few years ago. Any color tee or light weight sweater would work great, but white is the only one that I had that matched well. I also like the white because it allowed me to choose whatever color scarf or jewelry that I wanted to wear. Blanket scarves are my absolutely favorite; they're so easy to wear and automatically give your outfit a fall touch. I like to wear outfits like this early in the season before it gets too cold. Once mid- November hits, I pretty much live in oversized sweaters, leggings, and boots!

My next post is one that I am super excited to share with ya'll, so stay tuned and check back here on Tuesday morning!

Transition from Summer to Fall: Fashion Edition

Hey ya'll! It's almost the weekend- woohoo! This week has been hectic, but I have been looking forward to this weekend for so long. My boyfriend and I rented a cute little mountain house up in Gatlinburg for the weekend and I am just so excited! It's going to be so nice to get away and relax for a few days. I am planning on doing a post next week talking all about our trip and showing ya'll some pictures- so stay tuned!

As I mentioned in my last post, this is my favorite time of the year for fashion. I love big chunky sweaters, boots, and just all things fall! However, every year I have a few items from my summer wardrobe that I'm just not ready to give up yet- and this skirt is definitely one of them. Back in July, Lizard Thicket posted a picture of this skirt on their Instagram and I was like "Oh my gosh, I have to have it!" I wore it several times this summer and usually paired it with a simple plain white tank or a white crop top. When fall rolled around, I just was not quite ready to retire this skirt. It has the cutest embroidery detailing- which is also a huge trend this fall. So I knew with a few adjustments to my outfit, I could make this skirt work this season.

I dug through my closet and was able to find the perfect mustard cardigan to wear with it. I also swapped the bright white tank for a more subtle tan color to pull out the darker tones. The last change I made was switching my usual wedges with a pair of suede ankle booties to give it the perfect fall vibe!

I used to pack up all of my spring/ summer clothes each fall and put them aside until the next year, but recently I have been trying to get creative and give these items a twist to fit each season. It's so much fun to look at your closet in a different way- you find that you can wear your clothes in so many different ways!

Skirt: As mentioned, I bought this skirt back in July- but here and here are some other awesome embroidery skirts || Tank- similar here || Cardigan- similar here || Boots

Fall in the South: Outfit Tips

Hey ya'll! First off, I just want to start off by saying THANK YOU so much for the amazing responses on my first post! I was a little nervous about the launch, but ya'll were so awesome and sent me tons of love. So again, thank you so so much!

If you live in the south, you know that even though fall technically starts in September, fall weather doesn't start until about late October (if you're lucky). Fall fashion is my absolute favorite, but when it's 90 degrees outside, it makes it hard to wear your favorite sweaters and scarfs. However, I've lived in Georgia my whole life, so I've learned to improvise and think of different ways to wear my favorite fall pieces. Here are a few tips to help you incorporate fall pieces into your wardrobe during these warmer October days.

My first tip to beat the heat this fall is to wear shorts or a skirt and pair it with your favorite long sleeve top, sweater, or jacket. This combination allows you to keep the fall look to your outfit without making you sweat! These shorts are one of my favorite fall staple pieces; the embroidery adds the perfect amount of detail and they are so comfortable!
My second tip for dressing during a warmer fall is to wear layers, such as jackets or cardigans that can be taken off without ruining your outfit. I wore a basic ivory tank under this jacket that could be worn on its own. This specific outfit was worn on a day where the high was 92, so the layers worked out perfect since I could take off the jacket when the day got too hot.
My third and last tip is to incorporate boots into your outfits. To me, boots=fall, so adding them to any outfit instantly gives you that fall vibe! My favorite boots to pair with shorts or skirts specifically are over the knee or thigh high boots. I personally think that they make your legs look longer and slimmer! Ankle booties are a great fall staple too, but I usually pair taller boots with shorts.

I hope these tips can help you think outside the box with your outfits and beat the heat this fall! Hopefully here in Georgia it will start cooling down and I can bust out my sweaters soon. But until then, I will just have to improvise and get creative! I hope you all have a great week- stay tuned for another helpful fall outfit post later this week!

Jacket- I got mine years ago, but here and here are some similar

Pilot: Welcome to my blog!

Hey ya'll, I am soo excited to FINALLY be writing my first blog post!! I have been wanting to start a blog for a while now, but I honestly never thought this day would actually come. First off, lemme tell you a little bit about myself.

I'm Nicole Golden- I'm 23 years old and I recently graduated from The University of Alabama (Roll Tide!), where I spent the best four years of my life. My sophomore year of college I decided to rescue a Border Collie named Harley and she truly has stolen my heart. In 2016, my mom and I decided to go into business together and open Unhinged Lifestyle Boutique, a small business boutique located in Senoia, GA. For those of you who don't know where Senoia is- which I'm guessing is pretty much everyone reading this, it is the town where The Walking Dead TV show is filmed. Since starting this business, I have taken over the role as the Unhinged e-commerce & brand director- I created the online website, run the social media accounts, and am constantly working to build our brand.  I absolutely love what I do and I love even more that I get to do it with my mom; we make one heck of a team! She's the one who pushed me out of my comfort zone and encouraged me to create my own lifestyle blog.

I have always been intrigued by Youtubers, bloggers, and social media influencers and how they have such a great platform to share the things that they are passionate about.  Whenever I am getting ready and I create a unique outfit or discover a cool make up trick, I think "I would so share this on my blog if I had one." After getting tired of hearing me say this so much, my mom finally had enough and just said "Okay, that's it- you're going to start your own blog." I kept making excuses why now wasn't a good time to start it, but she made me realize that it's never going to be the "perfect time." I took a deep breath,  and agreed with her. I'm so happy that I did because I am so ready to start this next chapter in my life and get this thing going!

I am creating "Live Simply Golden" as a creative outlet where I can share outfit ideas, make up tips, beauty tricks, product reviews, and just my overall thoughts with ya'll! I hope you enjoy following along with me on this journey!
